▪️ Makinde Polls Twice the figure of his runner-up, becomes second in Oyo history to win a reelection
Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has been declared the winner of the Saturday, March 18, 2023, governorship election in the state.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which declared Makinde the winner, said that the PDP candidate polled twice the number of votes polled by his first runner up, Teslim Folarin.
He will be the second politician in the history of Oyo state to win a reelection as the governor.
“We will even work harder during this second term than in the first one. Like we say in our campaign slogan, Omi tuntun, this one will be fresher and sweeter,” Makinde said in a terse acceptance speech.
